multimedia mixing of textile, photography, cloth and animation
“Scattered book”, which was made by assembling diverse artistic fragments, is a document
and an artistic analysis of a five-month period in which I had lived and created abroad. In the “Scattered book” I have assembled various images created through different technical approaches: photography, photocopy, sample/pattern, collage, fashion, drawing, textile pieces etc. Through all these approaches I have tried to transmit a message on the progress of fashion making through multimedia mixing.
By leafing through (the book), therefore, while synthetically assembling the fragments into a whole, a specific agency/effect is created which can be described as follows:
a) The agency/effect of textual imprint/record, through which the meaning of image (sign) is generated by putting it in the context of (other) images.
b) The agency/effect of artistic expression of the image, which transmits information on the content of the introduced fragment (a fragment being basic element of the message),
as well as on the content of the whole assemblage (since it functions as a piece of textile).
c) The agency/effect is dependant on the viewer (reader), since the artistic expression of the content addresses him/her to upgrade it with his/her own personal view on the (re)presented, and by so doing, to establish a relation with it: that is, to search for the content of the represented – not merely in externalities, but specifically in relation to oneself.
Precisely since the book uses mixing of the artistic media, the agency/effect of the work becomes a new medium, inherent to the work itself. This is achieved by replacing currently
existing, as well as by introducing new elements, and, thus, by changing the agency/
effect of the work, as well as of its mediation (transmission).
